Who we are
MatchingStarz is a memory matching game operated by MatchingStarz ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: support@matchingstarz.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your username, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never as plain text.
- Game results: for logged-in players, each game's level, mode, score, moves and time, plus the board layout so we can verify the score.
- Technical data: your IP address and browser type, kept with your session for security.
- On your device only: music and sound settings, and guest best scores. These stay in your browser's storage and are never sent to us.
Guests can play without an account. We do not store guest games on our servers.
How we use it
- To run the game, keep you signed in and save your scores.
- To show the leaderboard and your stats.
- To send emails you ask for, such as password reset links.
- To keep the game fair and secure, including checking that scores are genuine.
What others can see
Your username and best scores appear on the public leaderboard. Your email address is never shown to other players.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with services that help us run the game (such as hosting and email delivery), under confidentiality, or when the law requires it.
Cookies and storage
- Session and security cookies keep you signed in and protect forms. They are required for the site to work.
- "Remember me" sets a longer-lasting sign-in cookie, only if you tick the box.
- Analytics cookies, if we turn analytics on, are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and game results until you delete your account. Games that were started but never finished are removed after one day. Sessions expire when you log out or after a period of inactivity.
Your choices
From your Profile you can change your username, email and password, or delete your account. Deleting removes your account and all of your scores. You can also contact us to access or correct your information.
Children
MatchingStarz is a family-friendly game, but accounts are not intended for children under 13. Children can play as guests without giving us any personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your information with hashed passwords, secure connections and limits on sign-in attempts. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
